I think I was a bit unclear when I used the word 'theme'/'thematically'. It doesn't help that the new dialogue is fucking heinous and could make even Cormac McCarthy's plotting feel like Horton Hears a Who.I'm only quoting the last part because I don't think that we disagree on the rest in principle. Where it fails in my opinion is that it tries to do too much - instead of contenting itself with saying that the dreadlords were their own club who piggy-backed on the Legion until it fell apart, hence their tabboos regarding harming one another and seeming willingess to take over on their own in the Legion's absence, they created this whole tangled mess where they'd planned this out from Day 1 which falls apart, when opportunism would make a much better motive. But what it does provide is to explore what was already there and went unexplored and to allay a bit of fridge logic regarding the Legion. It is closer to their original incarnation in WC3 than any other portrayal. The retcon serves the purpose to recenter them and to give them back much of what they'd lost over the years. From what we've seen, the Jailer isn't the most communicative.īut yeah, it really throws Kel'thuzad's characterization among the Ner'zhul/Arthas Scourge into disarray. Do they also establish Sylvanas' knowing Kel'thuzad was working with the Jailer prior to getting in so deep with him? At this point, I imagine she can't really back out, but I could see her not knowing prior to 9.0 about it. It was interesting seeing KT2 reacting to KT1 with regards to the Sunwell, as everything before that mostly laid the blame on Arthas. All to do nothing but spruce up the absolute blandest villain the game has produced in quite some time.Yeah, I agree with you there. the Dreadlords in the first place to the friendship with Arthas that had him made Regent of Lordaeron for him in the first place. It dismantles everything from Kel'thuzad's role as Majordomo the Lich King who used Arthas vs.
Everything regarding Kel'thuzad's role in this expansion is a complete shambles but the double whammy of claiming that he worked for the Blue Man all along and having Sylvanas working with him never be addressed despite making a point of his role in the Sunwell's destruction as early as 9.0 takes the cake.
